As a player, Barry has had enviable success and the highlight of this wonderful career so far has been representing GB & Ireland against the United States under the captaincy of Gary Alliss at the Carrick in 2009. He is the 7 time Lancashire order of merit winner and is 7 times Lancashire professional Matchplay champion. He has won the regional qualifying for The Open Championship on three occasions and was a Challenge tour member between 2006 and 2008. 

Barry won the prestigious Lancashire Open at Blackpool North Shore in both 2007 and 2009. More significantly, he has excelled himself over the famous Open Championship venue of Royal Lytham and St Annes having won the Lancashire Matchplay title there for the past five years. This in itself is a phenomenal achievement and further proof of his all round talent and potential. He topped the Tamsel Tour Order of Merit in 2008 and has done likewise on the equally competitive Players Tour. The list of achievements goes on and on, and is simply further proof of the quality of golf that he has played.
